Client: Department of the Interior
We are supporting the DOI Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance (OEPC) on this technically and administratively complex CERCLA groundwater and soil remediation project. The project consists of the design and implementation of a groundwater and soil characterization and remediation system to address chromate contamination. For more than five years, we have been providing engineering design review of the proposed in-situ treatment system, and review of groundwater flow and geochemical models. The project involved:
- a human and ecological risk assessment
- preparation of technical issue papers and documents
- extensive meetings and negotiations
- highly technical activities such as groundwater and geochemical modeling and in situ remediation technologies in a complex regulatory and stakeholder environment involving interactions with multiple regulatory agencies, water districts, and multiple local tribes
